Naturopathic medicine
Naturopathic medicine at our clinic is rooted in compassionate, collaborative care. You’ll work one-on-one with your provider as part of a supportive team—your naturopathic doctor, chiropractor, and other practitioners communicating closely to ensure your care feels cohesive, personalized, and aligned with your goals.
We welcome and care for people across all stages of life and health journeys, including those managing chronic conditions, navigating hormone and metabolic changes, seeking preventive care, or looking for support during pregnancy and postpartum. Our approach is always respectful, inclusive, and tailored to your unique needs.
Naturopathic medicine focuses on understanding the root causes of symptoms while supporting your body’s natural ability to heal. Grounded in evidence-informed care, we take the time to listen, investigate, and create a plan that feels both effective and sustainable.
Your care may include a blend of therapies such as:
Nutrition and lifestyle counseling
Botanical (herbal) medicine and supplementation
Hormone and metabolic support
Neural therapy to help regulate the nervous system and address pain or dysfunction
A medically guided GLP-1 program for those seeking support with weight, metabolic health, and long-term wellness
Preventive care and advanced lab testing when appropriate
We emphasize education and partnership—helping you understand your body and feel empowered in your health decisions. Our goal is to support you not just in feeling better, but in building lasting, meaningful wellness with a team that truly cares.
Naturopathic medicine faqs
-
A naturopathic doctor (ND) completes a 4-year accredited graduate medical program that blends conventional medical science with natural therapies — including nutrition, botanical medicine, and lifestyle counseling. NDs are fully licensed here in Oregon, and at Sunstone Care PDX, ours bring both deep expertise and genuine warmth to every appointment.
-
Naturopathic Care is wonderfully broad. Our patients come to us for digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, chronic fatigue, autoimmune conditions, anxiety, depression, skin concerns, and preventive wellness. If something has felt "off" and you're not sure where to turn, this is a great place to start.
-
Time and depth. Initial naturopathic visits at Sunstone Care PDX run 60–90 minutes. Your ND will explore your full health story — your diet, sleep, stress, relationships, and history — because we believe great Care means understanding the whole person, not just the symptom.
-
Absolutely — and we encourage it. Integrative Care is at the heart of what we do at Sunstone. Our NDs are happy to communicate and collaborate with your other providers (with your permission, of course) so everyone on your Care team is working together.
-
Yes. In Oregon, licensed NDs have prescriptive authority and can prescribe many pharmaceutical medications alongside natural therapies. Your ND will always recommend what is most effective and least invasive for your situation — that's the Sunstone Care PDX way.
-
Oregon law requires many insurers to cover naturopathic services — so there's a good chance you're covered. We recommend a quick call to your insurance provider to confirm your benefits, and our team is always here to help with documentation or reimbursement questions.

Naturopathic Care often works with deeper, longer-standing imbalances, so changes may unfold over weeks or months. That said, many patients notice meaningful shifts early on. Your ND will be honest about timelines and check in with you consistently throughout your Care journey.
