Expect to spend an hour with Dr. Brown on your first visit.  She'll do a thorough history and physical examination in order to identify the cause of your concern.   On some occasions she may order tests such as X-rays, MRI's, diagnostic ultrasound, or other laboratory tests to help establish a diagnosis. She will then work with you to develop a treatment plan. She may prescribe massage, or physical therapy in conjunction with your treatment. She also works closely with many other medical providers in the community, such as pediatric chiropractic physicians and both primary care naturopathic and allopathic physicians. Dr. Brown will readily refer to other medical specialists, such as an internist, orthopedic surgeon, or neurosurgeon, when chiropractic care will not appropriately address your concern.

Our licensed massage therapists specialize in therapeutic massage care.  They have a keen understanding of human anatomy and common musculoskeletal conditions. They work closely with the doctor to assure each individual's specific diagnosis and treatment plan are understood and met. They are well versed in many modalities and customize each massage to each person's unique needs.  Common types of massage include: myofacial release, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, sports massage and Thai massage.

 

EXERCISE counseling

Movement as medicine: Did you know that moderate physical activity can decrease risk of death from all causes by 58%?  This landmark study was released over 25 years-ago, yet our current health-care model still resorts to drugs as a first line treatment for common illnesses, aches and pains caused by lack of physical activity.  Dr. Brown believes in movement as medicine and knows the evidence to back it up.  Before becoming a chiropractic physician, she practiced as a clinical exercise physiologist.  Dr. Brown will first perform a full history and physical examination.  This will serve to assure it is safe for you to begin an exercise program and will identify any problem areas in your body (i.e. hip, ankle, knee, etc). She will then design and prescribe a personalized program for your unique body.  She works with you no matter how small or large your goals are.  She'll prescribe routines that can be done in the comfort of your living space during your infant's nap time, in your office, or at a fitness center.  Dr. Brown is also a large proponent of supervised exercise classes and regularly refers to local functional fitness gyms.
